Istihar Kalach, b.1990, Berlin, Germany.
Lives and works in Karlsruhe, Germany.

Istihar Kalach is born 1990 in Berlin, Germany. In 2011 she began her studies in painting at the Alanus University for Art and Society in Bonn. In 2016 she continued her studies at Academy of Fine Arts Karlsruhe with Professor Ulla von Brandenburg and Professor Leni Hoffmann. She finished her studies with a master’s degree in October 2020. Currently she lives and works in Karlsruhe.

Kalach’s artistic work is based on the artistic sectioning of thematic fields in the form of a completed series of works. The thematic fields are fed by the energy of the connection between personal and social experiences. Her works are not intended to be understood intellectually, but rather they call for the viewer’s creative ability to combine and find his or her way through the symbolic symbioses offered by the artist.

Her work was most recently shown during the Gallery Weekend Karlsruhe in Milano Allstars at Laube; Fragile Edge at Majolika and Projekt T1TT5.jpg at Project Room elle_Studio (2020); VERKEHR at Altes Zollamt, Hamburg (2020); ITEM at Luis Leu, Karlsruhe (2019). Currently she’s working on the upcoming solo show Ignore Life at TV-Hifi, Karlsruhe.
